Limited Editions are paintings, prints, sculptures, or photographs produced in a limited quantity, typically accompanied by a specific number of copies.
Limited editions create a sense of rarity and exclusivity, making each individual piece more valuable to collectors.
Each piece in the edition is numbered to indicate its place in the sequence (e.g., 1/100, 2/100, etc.). Additionally, we may sign each copy to authenticate its origin and quality or provide a letter of authenticity.
Each Pure Products USA limited edition varies. Some can have as many as 100; and others under 50.
Our open editions are neither signed nor numbered.
We’re Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese. We collaborate together as Ligorano Reese. We are based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and have been making art together for over 3 decades. We make woven fiber optic tapestries, installations, ice sculptures and limited editions.
We started pureproductsusa in 1992. The first pureproducts were about the marketing of politics. Our Contract with America underwear caused a sensational stir in the media. So much so that the Republican National Committee threatened us with copyright infringement.
The John Ashcroft snow globe was our first snow globe. Governor Chris Christie liked it so much that he gave one as a gift to Attorney General John Ashcroft.
The Justice Department wanted to hire us to do Ashcroft’s portrait but demurred when they found out it was a satire. We lost that job but went on to do his portrait as a mug shot which became Line Up. When the New York Public Library showed it, it caused a scandal.
George W. Bush’s 2004 reelection inspired us to do our most famous snow globe. The Fuck snow globe. And the rest is history
